Kesbeke is one of Amsterdam's most beloved cult brands — the family behind the city's iconic pickles, with a factory that's been on the same street since 1948. When vijf890 stopped by with a handful of ideas, the timing couldn't have been better.

The idea was simple: a Birkenstock-inspired sandal covered in Kesbeke's signature green pickle print. The Gurkenstock. Oos Kesbeke had been having a terrible day — until the presentation. Within hours of going live on Instagram, the response was overwhelming. People didn't just like it. They needed it.

The sandal sold through Kesbeke's webshop, selected Jumbo stores and all Poiesz locations. And there's more in the brine where that came from.
